The water management system on the front of the house needed some serious attention. Clogged gutters, downspouts that were too small, and those black corrugated drain lines just laying on top of the ground to very basically meet the demands of the relocation company before the previous owners sold them the house. So I pulled everything but the gutters themselves. After opening up the downspout holes from 2x3" to 3x4", I added new 4" downspouts, and then PVC drain lines that will be buried. Now I just need to regrade the dirt in the front yard and against the house and put in a French drain. When that is done, water will be properly managed for probably the first time in this home's history. This will also solve the problem of all the water going to the corner of the foundation and the chimney that has resulted in several cracks.
