Toxicodendron radicans
One of the disappointing things about acquiring this farm was the discovery of just how much poison ivy is on it - and the fact that I would inevitably have a reaction. It didn't take long. Within the first week of working on the property, despite all the proper washing procedures, I ended up with a reaction on both arms from the elbows to wrists.
But as the battle for this land begins, poison ivy is certainly sustaining many more losses. Despite my arms, I'm winning the war.
Last night Kolbe, as he often does, found a stick and started chewing on it. Except in this case, it turned out to be a large hairy stem of poison ivy. Thankfully, dogs are somehow not affected by urushiol. Wouldn't that be nice?
