A first entry from the farm

It's been a little over a week since we moved in.  I've had some hopes that I might use this as an online journal of sorts for things that happen on the farm.  Keeping entries short if possible.

First, we owe enormous thanks to God for answering prayers, and that it might be His will that we should get this house and farm.  Thankful as well for the intercession of St. Joseph on this one.

Then we owe a great deal of thanks to everyone that helped us move.  The list is long.  Moving out and moving in went quickly due to so many hands.  We are blessed by so many dear family and friends.

Andy Watkins, Reta Watkins, Tim Ligowski, Danny Ligowski, John Ligowski, Kathy Ligowski, Alex Wesner, Franz Klein, Jake Noland, Brendan Schwartz, Blake Martin, Olivia Cassboro, Jeremy Dieter, Devin Hartley, Ernest Eason, Ryan Flood, Doug Dieter, Diane Dieter, Nick Chiodo, ...

Since getting here, we've actually done a fair amount to get settled.  Many, many boxes unpacked, and yet there a still a number to go.

The shop is still a mess.  It'll probably stay that way until I have time to build walls and storage inside of it.

Deacon Mike Alig came over with his tractor and bush hog.  He cut the entire front field.  I finished up all the other fields in the following days.  Amazing what we find abandoned on this farm.

Poison ivy.  It is everywhere.  Both of my arms can attest to it.  Although, in the battle, poison ivy is definitely losing.

Kids have been out in the canoe at least once a day.  Chantal and I even went out for a paddle.

Started cutting the trail through the woods.  That will take a bit more time to get all the way around.  f

Seen some wildlife already.  Many black snakes, a baby corn snake, rabbits, a doe & fawn, many hummingbirds, great blue herons, salamanders, box turtles, etc.

It's just awesome being out on the farm.  So quiet and peaceful, especially of a morning.  It's wonderful not having houses immediately on either side of you.  It's going to take some work to get the property and house back in top shape, but it will be well worth it.  As many people have said, it's like a slice of heaven on earth.  Maybe not everyone's version of heaven on earth, but it sure is ours.
